Security Tips to keep you safe from Online Threats

Beware of Social Media: Facebook and Twitter is a threat?
Never give your address, password, school name, to people on Facebook.
Be very careful of who you accept as a friend & do not click on links on a wall.
Do not reveal sensitive information.
Information like Social Security and Credit Card Number, best not revealed, unless essential.
Be sure of the credibility of the site that you are dealing with.
Be conscious and guarded with people whom you meet online.
Online associations and friendships should not be taken too far or too seriously.
It is advisable to do enough research before getting into a serious relationship of any sort with a "net buddy"!
Beware of E-Mail attachments.
Think twice before opening attachments: analyze mail content as well as the sender’s address.
If address is familiar, look for attachment extension, typical extensions are .doc, .pdf, .jpg etc anything looking unfamiliar and fishy to be ignored.
Remember, being inquisitive could cost you your hard drive!
